THE BEWELL METHOD™ · FOUNDED BY KIMBERLEA SMARR

A different
way to begin.

The philosophy

Regulation
before
rehabilitation.

The state we bring into movement matters. The BeWell Method bridges nervous system literacy, accessible yoga practices, and practical tools clinicians can integrate alongside existing care.

Its foundation is deliberately simple: breath, spine, and feet. Its approach is gradual, adaptable, and built for real bodies.

Little by little, again and again.

01 / For clinicians

Structure for the work between sessions.

Designed for physical therapists, occupational therapists, pain clinicians, and other qualified care professionals, the BeWell Method includes clinician education and a four-level patient practice library.

One philosophy · Three centers

Body. Heart. Mind.

Another way to understand the experience of regulation—present in both personal practice and clinician education.

I

Moving Center / Body

Movement, internal sensing, and the embodied experience. In the BeWell framework, connected with enteric and somatic awareness.

II

Feeling Center / Heart

Emotion, connection, and felt experience. Explored through the lens of vagal pathways and regulation.

III

Perception Center / Mind

Attention, interpretation, choice, and the central nervous system's role in how we experience the world.

An educational lens within the BeWell Method—not three anatomically separate nervous systems.
The heart of practice

In real bodies.
In real life.

Each body carries a history. Each practice begins with the person who arrives. That is why the work leaves room for choice, curiosity, and adaptation.

From small-group teaching to individual therapeutic sessions, the goal is not to perform a perfect pose. It is to develop a more responsive relationship with movement.

FOUNDER · EDUCATOR · COMPETITIVE FREEDIVER

Depth of experience. Room for discovery.

I'm Kimberlea Smarr—a yoga educator, creator of the BeWell Method™, and competitive freediver. My work has grown from years of teaching people with different bodies, abilities, and histories.

Freediving has deepened my firsthand exploration of breath, perception, and nervous system responses. It's a passion that continues to inform my questions and curiosity, not a substitute for clinical evidence.

BeWell is also a continuation of the community I built through BeWell Yoga Studio in Johnstown, Colorado. The studio has closed, but its spirit lives on in this work.

A guiding belief

Yoga is an invitation.
Not an obligation.
